Ultimate Guide to the World of Art

Updated: Feb 27, 2023

Welcome to My Blog!

My name is LiLian Tjia; I am an artist from the UK, focusing on unlocking the joy within creation for every new project. I have a great passion for art that is produced from a place of genuine love, and I am eager to share tips and knowledge that I have learnt along the way on my artistic journey.

In this blog, I will dish out some useful guidance for beginners, advice for all artists, and thoughts on various phenomena within the art world. I will also be sharing some personal experiences surrounding cultural/racial dysphoria, as well as ADHD, both in relation to creativity. My main goal is to inspire and connect with others in the artistic community.

This is me! Visit my website, liliantjia.com, to learn more about these paintings!

Beginner's Guide - Tips and Tricks

I will be covering many different areas of knowledge at a foundation level, as well as answering some commonly asked questions. My aim is to share information and explain certain topics in a way that is clear, concise and easy to understand!

Having ADHD as an Artist

As an artist with ADHD, I find that the carved out path to 'success' in our modern society doesn't necessarily align with the key characteristics of a person with ADHD. I will be exploring this in depth throughout many areas within the arts.

I also want to bring awareness to the benefits of creativity and art for people that do have ADHD. Art can be an incredible outlet and judgement-free space for those of us with neurodiverse minds; a place to 'unmask' and allow our true selves to shine through. I strongly believe in embracing the gifts that ADHD blesses us with, so that we may excel in any given realm. Hopefully this blog will inspire others to celebrate every aspect of themselves.

Cultural and racial dysphoria

I come from a fairly wide jumble of ethnic/cultural backgrounds, and I often relate to the idea of 'imposter syndrome' within race and identity. Expressing freely while welcoming the special elements that make up what it means to be 'you' is a powerfully liberating sensation, and my objective is to demonstrate ways that might work for you along the road to self-acceptance.

What does art mean to you?

Think about what art really means to you; what does art do for you, and how does it make you feel?

At the end of the day, the definition of creativity ranges drastically from one person to the next, and it is for every individual to discover this from themselves. With any luck, this blog will help you find out what art means to you!
